What is Greenstone Structural Solutions?
A: Greenstone Structural Solutions is the exclusive Canadian manufacturer of this unique composite technology. Greenstone utilizes galvanized steel and EPS to achieve an insulated composite envelope for building exteriors, interior and below grade walls, interior partitions, floors, and roofs.
Greenstone’s Structural Solutions’ technology is certified by QAI. Greenstone panels can be used to achieve National Energy Code requirements, LEED certification, Green Globes and other efficiency standards.
Greenstone’s unique patented process utilizes the power of composite technology. Greenstone panels start with opposing double steel frames which are bonded with Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). The manufacturing process results in a thermally disconnected lightweight building product that provides structural framing, insulation, and a vapour barrier in one. Panels are seamlessly assembled on site in four-foot sections. Rough openings for doors and windows are framed during the manufacturing process. Every Greenstone building is designed to match your architectural drawings.

What is Expandable Polystyrene (EPS)?
A: Expandable Polystyrene is the lightweight rigid material made by expanding polystyrene resin with steam. It is used in the construction industry for insulation and void fill for walls, foundations and roofing. The use of EPS as thermal insulation gives the Greenstone panel the following advantages:

Thermal Energy Performance

Greenstone panels are manufactured in a controlled factory process. Each panel is inspected, measured and labelled. This assures quality control along with third party inspection services and compliance with building codes.

What about changes and field modifications?
Does the Greenstone technology have an approved firewall assembly?
Yes! Greenstone has been fire tested with thermal barriers for surface burning characteristics, smoke development, room fire tests, and hourly fire test ratings, as per building code requirements. Panels have been tested as a wall system with gypsum wallboard thermal barriers for 15 minute, 1-hour, and 2-hour fire ratings. Most codes require a 15-minute minimum interior thermal barrier. Fire tests have proven that EPS gives off fewer toxins than conventional wood framing.
Have building officials approved the use of Greenstone panels?
Will I need special engineering?
Greenstone Structural Solutions is an engineered building assembly specific to your project; similar to pre-engineered steel structures. Actual engineer seal requirements vary from region to region. Greenstone will be able to assist you regarding the specific requirements in your region, based on your building classification.
Some projects/regions have additional requirements for high wind load, heavy snow loads, high seismic activity, or any combination of these. Greenstone panels can be engineered to meet these additional requirements effectively.
Who can I get to build for me?
How can I get an estimate for my project?
Our standard policy is to provide estimates from dimensioned architectural drawings that include a floor plan, elevations with rough opening sizes and a roof plan. Project location is required for structural calculations based on climate zone. In most cases, we adapt customers’ plans to our system in-house. The more detail we receive, the more accurate the estimate

Once I decide to use Greenstone, how do I place my order and arrange for delivery of my project?
Once you make the decision to use Greenstone Structural Solutions for your project, Greenstone Brandon Plant will contact you with formal approval paperwork. Payment terms and the design process will be clearly outlined to you before we begin.
Your project will be processed in the order in which it was received. Turnaround time is a function of demand and complexity of the project.
The panels can be delivered directly to your job site or picked up at our plant in Brandon, Manitoba. Panels are typically shipped via flat-deck semi-trailer — shipping rates are very reasonable due to the lightweight material. Shipping via air can be arranged by Greenstone or the owner for remote or Northern locations.
Does Greenstone provide technical support once my panels are delivered?
Yes! A representative of Greenstone will be on site for the first-time installer. Your representative will be available via phone and email to review/discuss plans and technical details with you and/or your Contractor. A detailed set of shop drawings and an assembly manual is provided for every project.
